Introduction to the Discovering Your Human Algorithm
When do you feel the most fulfilled? When do you feel a sweet equilibrium of your mind and spirit while doing an activity? Which moments do you look back on with the fondest sensations? Which moments do you look forward to the most?
Everyone has their own answers.
The Human Algorithm is about improving life processes on planet earth for the 21st century.
I’ve asked myself these questions and for me I am the most fulfilled when I engage in one of the 6As of life – Athletics, Adventure, Academics, Art, and. Advocacy.
Discovering Your Human Algorithm captures the struggles and opportunities in our daily lives. As humans, we live one day to the next. But our digital technologies give us the opportunity to create re-combinations of our lives daily. Technologies developed by our fellow humans present us with uncountable wonders but if we don’t learn these wonders actively, then how can we live effectively?
An Algorithm is defined as a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer. Algorithms have originally been created by humans to make computers better so why can’t we use algorithms to live better? Discovering Your Human Algorithm should give you a process to follow to solve problems and discover yourself.
Any wisdom in these pages is like finding a long-lost friend. Others have assessed the world and shared their wisdom before. I claim no special knowledge merely I seek to put an illuminating frame on human best practices in order to live life with meaning and purpose. The time to live with meaning and purpose is always now.
The first version of this book was called “The 6As: a practical philosophy for living life with meaning and purpose.” The 6As are Athletics, Adventure, Academics, Art, Advocacy, and The Human Algorithm.
As you read, you will likely feel the influence of the “6As” throughout the book and I’m proud of that. However, the closer I arrived at publishing the book, I felt that the 6As didn’t capture the essence of the book. Essence is like a scent we take with us everywhere we go and to everyone we meet. Essence is like a scent we take away from everywhere we have been and from everyone we meet. It is this essence, our 21st century Human Algorithm, that will determine our individual and combined future. We are social animals. It is in our DNA so our approach to improving life on earth has to incorporate an individual and collective approach to solving problems and living life with meaning and purpose.
